Green Projects
Making green fun for kids
Many educators say that teaching kids the importance of a green lifestyle and respect for the other is of vital importance. It is very easy to include children in many varieties of green activities.
Check out some of these ideas:
Plan trips to local farmers markets and recycling centers, or alternative energy plants.
Let children discover the importance of growing their own food by planting a garden, or the value of designing a backyard habitat for wildlife, or to build a compost heap to learn more about food recycling.
Teach kids about energy saving and why it's important to turn the lights off, or how to recycle paper, plastics, and cans. Make fun projects with the kids such as building a sun dial, bird feeders, or making sun tea. Design your own green flash or concentration card games using recycled paper.
Party Time
How to have an eco friendly party
Birthday parties come and go and so does the mess that they leave behind. Loads of plastic cups, silverware, and plates topped with barely eaten birthday cake. Then all that paper from the unwrapped presents, where does it all end up?
It ends up in the landfill; but it doesn't have to be that way. Instead, have a Green Birthday! Host a party outside and enjoy the day without depending on store–bought games.
Go to the beach, the park, the pool or play games. Send out e-mail invitations instead of regular paper invitations. Use real or biodegradeable plates, cups and silverware, rather than ordinary disposable products.
Instead of wrapped gifts, ask for donations to your favorite organization or charity. Search the web for a huge host of other ideas!
Organic Playdough

Coloring or scents are optional In a mixer, combine all of the above ingredients, including vegetable-based coloring and scents. Mix them well, pour the resulting mixture into a cooking pot, heat it on medium-high, and stir it constantly until it becomes stiff. Let it cool, and enjoy! Store it in airtight containers in the iceboxl it will keep fine for several weeks.
